I kept getting hit with passages of scripture about giving. And then the pastor's sermon today was about being a financial steward - not in a "give all your money to the church" sense, but as in recognizing the sovereignty of God, because all things belong TO him, and to give when, where, and how much, according to His command. This doesn't necessarily include one specific physical church building. It could be a missions trip, a charity, an individual in need, etc. Stewardship also includes all resources: time, talents like art, etc.
This falls in line with what Paul said... "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)
